Game map links

Hi all,

I am exploring the use of Game Map. I am particulary interested in linking Game Maps together : once one is achieved, the student can jump to the text one (like diving deeper into exploration, areas get unlocked).

How could I link a Game Map to an other one when finished ?

Thank you in advance

Thomas

You could add a link in to some other content on the end screen. Or, if you want to link to some other content directly on the map, you could use version 1.4 of GameMap.

Hi Oliver,
after update GameMap to 1.4, interatciivity is not display and I notice in console error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'library')  at H5P.newRunnable (h5p.js?ver=1.16.0:887:59)

Please share (a link to) the content.

Hi Oliver,

I have solved the problem, but I need help for another.

When I have "Find the Hotspot" in GameMap, when user mark correct area - "Continue" button is not display.

Find The Hotspots is a nasty content type code-wise. It requires some customization that has now been added to GameMap 1.4.1. You can download and install the updated version like before.

I'd nevertheless like to know what you did to work around the other issue. If you encountered an error message in the console, then there's something that I should look into.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for reply. I solved the first problem by clearing the cache in the libraries, and also in the browser.

Okay. Don't know what might have happened here. H5P recreates caches when you install a new library version.

Hi Oliver,

I notice another problem.

When create Multiple Choice in Course Presentation, and activate "Activate Active Surface Mode", is it possible to display a "Continue" button when answering a question?

Hi glisapn,

If you are aiming to use "Continue" to go to the next slide, you can combine "Image" or "text" then add a "Go to slide"on top of it that points to the the next slide. I would prefer an image since it is easier to spot. Here is a content that have something similar: https://bv-demo.h5p.com/content/1292273189990029589

Hi BV52,

I want to use the "Continue" button to move to the next "Stage" on the map. Currently I have to click the "x button".

No, there's no such option, and I don't think I'll add one. On the one hand, given that GameMaps are often not linear, it's not clear what the "next" stage would be. On the other hand it sounds like quite an edge use case to me.

I want to use the "continue" button to mark the current stage as completed and unlock the next one. When I click the "Check" button in the presentation (when answering a Multiple Choice question) I want "Continue" to be displayed. In presentation is activate "Activate Active Surface Mode". Is that possible?

GameMap does not know anything about the subcontents of CoursePresentation. It only talks to CoursePresentation. If CoursePresentation does not tell GameMap that the CoursePresentation is completed, then GameMap will not display the continue button. That's it.

If your CoursePresentation is in fact completed when the MultipleChoice question is answered (so there cannot be any other exercises), then this would need to be changed in CoursePresentation.
