Accessibility information in metadata

Hi. It would be most helpful if there was a field in the metadata where creators could include information about the accessibility of the interaction.

Hi Kyle!

Would you mind sharing more of your thoughts?

Best,

Oliver

Thanks Oliver. Accessibilty statements generally contain: a statement on the organization's/developer's committment to accessibility, how the resource conforms with legislation, feedback and contact information, information about accessible alternatives, as well as information about review and update process for the resource. Here's a couple examples: https://opentextbc.ca/accessibilitytoolkit/front-matter/accessibility-st.... The most important thing is what the user can expect and how they can best navigate the resource.

So, a few things come to mind:

  • there should be information readily accessible for each interaction about the accessibility of interaction itself readily available. e.g., how to navigate drag and drop with assistive technology, etc
  • there should be form fields (in the metadata, or elsewhere) where developers can add information about the standards they are using for developing the content within the interaction, as well as contact information for feedback, alternative formats, etc.

A W3C community group published a guide for diaplaying accessibility metadata. This might help inform: https://www.w3.org/2021/09/UX-Guide-metadata-1.0/principles/

Let's see whether H5P Group will listen to that call then.
