Video Not Supported: Which Codecs or Vimeo alternative?

Hello everyone,
we always get "Video Not Supported" errors on several devices (iOS and Android), especially older devices... We have already tried different codecs, unfortunately there are always errors and we have not found a variant that works everywhere. Do you have a perfect guide on which codecs work where?
The workaround would be to host the videos externally: Are there any other alternatives to Vimeo Plus?
I would like to have a solution that always works...
Best regards Martin

Hi Martin,Firstly don't
Hi Martin,
Firstly don't expect a "solution that always works" because H5P uses the browser's video player. Additionally, we only test content types using the 2 latest versions of the major browsers.
Haivng said this usually, video playback problems are related to the video file itself. I.e: there are many ways to generate an mp4 file, and it won't necessarily be optimized for the web. We typically advise people to run their video through a video optimization tool like Handbrake (handbrake.fr) to optimize your video. Handbrake comes with presets, and you could e.g. use "Web -> Vimeo YouTube HQ 1080p60"."
