Cloud Flare Video for Interactive Video

Hi there,

Is there no way you can support Cloudflare Video?

Currently we ar limitted to Youtube, Vimeo etc. And the extension needs to end with .mp4. This is so restricitive in my opnion.

Cloudflare video is far more superior than Vimeo when it comes video delivery. And Youtube just does not cut it, as video are not private.

I believe you used to suport this, but I could be wrong. Afetrall the video uploaded to Cloudflare is in an .mp4 format.

Would really appreat it if we can have this option.

Is there anyone to at least give some feed back. Is it not possibel to at least use the Iframe embed code from Cloudflare?

Hi RakieM,

Interactive Video needs a direct link to where the video is located in cloudfare's database. Youtube provides an API that H5P is using to play their videos without having direct access to the video. On the other hand Vimeo Pro provides a a way to get the direct link to the video. Having said this if Cloudfare provides a way to get the direct link to the video then it should also work with Interactive Videos. If they have an API similar to what YT provides it should also work however there needs to be some developmental work to be added to IV.

Hi BV

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to get this information form CloudFlare.

What puzzles me is we can only use a links for interactive video. Why is it not possible to provide support for embed codes. Surely this would resolve some of the issues. Youtube, Vimeo, Cloudflare etc. all provide embed codes.

Interactive Video is the best thing but extremely limiting.

Hi!

What puzzles me is we can only use a links for interactive video. Why is it not possible to provide support for embed codes.

You can use those embed coded to put videos into a plain HTML site, but H5P needs to do some more things, e.g. stop the video programmatically (not by a user clicking onto a stop button), seek to a position, etc. That cannot be done with these embed codes.

Sites can provide a so called API that H5P could use. Here an API is somewhat like a user manual telling H5P how it can stop the video, seek to a position, etc. For all those different APIs, the H5P video library will need to get some extra source code that talks to the respective API. There's such code for YouTube, Panopto and Vimeo (the latter not published yet), but someone would need to create the equivalent code for Cloudflare as well.

Surely this would resolve some of the issues.

Sure. But who's solving the issues that code development provides, namely having resources, paying developers to create the source code, having someone to review it, ...?

Best,
Oliver
