Drag and drop: remove highlights for correct and incorrect answers

I am using the picture Drag and Drop in a context where colour has very specific meaning.

Highlighting correct answers in green provides a misleading answer to students.

Can this highlighting be disabled?

Hi tyork,

It is possible that you may have skipped some steps in creating your Drag and Drop. Please follow the steps below when creating a Drag & Drop activity with multiple drop zones and multiple draggables:

  1. Create the drop zones

  2. Create the draggables and place a check on the drop zones you would the draggable to be dragged into. This does not indicate the correct answer but only tells the content where you want to allow the draggable to drop.

  3. Edit the drop zones to place a check on the correct draggables.

You can also check this simple video on how to create a D&D with multiple drop zones and draggables.

Hi BV

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The Drag & Drop activity is working exactly as intended and designed. It's just that I don't want the correct answers to be highlighted in green if correct and red if incorrect. See screen shot attached.

Hi TY,

If you don't want green for correct and red for incorrect, what do you want to show the correctness/incorrectness of answers? Just the tick for correct and the cross for incorrect? without any colours?

That would be perfect, especially if it was an option that could be toggled.

I'm using firefox.

When the answer is dragged, even if you choose "NEVER" in the highligh drop zone, it always shows a slight change in color when the correct answer is moved to the spot. However, if we choose to opaque to 0, them, It is not possible to move the elements to other in order to be possible to get wrong answers...

Best. António

Hi António,

I have the same problem. I followed the instructions and it still does not work. The problem is that when you drag an element to the wrong drop area, the element does not stay there, suggesting that the answer is wrong. When the element is placed over the correct area, the area is highlighted, which gives away the correct answer. So you can do the exercise without really understanding what goes where. I have set the drop zone highlight under settings to "NEVER", but that does not change anything. Have tried with an incognito browser window in case something is being cached, but no luck.

Hi juliocr,

Can you make sure that you did not skip any of the steps I outlined above. The reason why you cannot drop the draggable inside the dropzones is that those draggables have been set to only be dropped on one dropzone. In your description you only placed a check on the correct dropzone. Again just to reiterate,  the settings in dropzone determines which draggable is correct on the other hand the setting on the draggable determines where you can drop them. No amount of changing the highlight setting will fix this issue since this setting only changes if the dropzone is higlighted when you hover the draggable over it.

If the settings are correct please attach your content so that we can check.

Yep. You are right! User error! You check "Select all" in the draggables and the correct choices in the dropzones. Thank you!!!
