oEmbed for Interactive Video / Course Presentation

I would like to embed videos into the modules Interactive Video resp. Course Presentation from an archive that features oEmbed. This is not working (I only can use youtube or upload a video). Do you know if this features is planned?

You can also add a URL that directly leads to a video file, but currently there's no way to automatically parse a response from oEmbed resources. You'd have to do retrieve the URL manually.

There were some tweets hinting at some upcoming oEmbed features a while ago, but I'm not sure if they were related to what you have in mind.
