Moodle - Validating h5p package failed.
Submitted by Shaun on Fri, 05/25/2018 - 20:06
Hi I'm getting an error when trying to install content types into my moodle 3.1.6 environment. I'm using google chrome. I get the following error:
Validating h5p package failed.
I believe it may be due to file permissions as my install uses multiple app servers and prevents writing to source code directorys. I'm not seeing any errors in my logs files on the servers. Is there anyway to manually install content types directly on the server?
Thanks,
Shaun

Hi Shaun,
Does this happen to all content types that you install?
Can you try downloading the sample contents from this page and upload it to Moodle. In some cases this is a good workaround if the hub is not working. If this works I would also suggest that you download Course Presentation and Column first since both contents have multiple content dependencies that is included when you download them.

Validating h5p package failed.
I am receiving the same message trying to upload the current "question-set-615.h5p" example as an activity within my Moodle installation. Does this mean that I should ask my Moodle administrator to upgrade the h5p plugin?

Hi jrroberts,
Yes you are correct. In some instances when a library has been updated it will also require that the core files of H5P is up to the date. If I'm not mistaken this has been the case for the update in November of last year and March of this year.

Hi Craig-IT,
If you just installed the plugin yesterday I would assume that it is the latest version but to make sure you can check it by going to Site Administration -> Plugins -> Plugins Overview. The most recent version of H5P in Moodle is 1.17.2. If this is the case can try creating a Drag and Drop content in Moodle.
Edit: Please also check if you have any errors in browser console.

Hi Ashk!
Given that you're answering to a post from 2018, could you please make sure you have "the exact" same issue and describe it here?
The "missing library" message often originates from a lack of rights to install H5P libraries (from the H5P file), please cmp. "Why can't I upload H5P content?".
Best,
Oliver
