Iframe embedder - no permissions, no relative paths

5okrates's picture

Iframe embedder (1.0.22) doesn't allow to use permissions on iframes. This permanently and irreversibly blocks functionality of recording audio and video inside iframes. At least in Chrome. Thus I consider it a bug, not a feature request. For more information see: https://dev.chromium.org/Home/chromium-security/deprecating-permissions-in-cross-origin-iframes

Moreover iframe embedder doesn't allow to use relative paths. It should at least support this type of relative content: src="/web/index.html" - index.html is located in the web folder at the root of the current web.

Ordinary iframe supports both permissions and relative paths, so it should be relatively easy to correct this in iframe embedder.

Hi 5okrates,

I'm sorry but support for Iframe embedder has been discontinued due to unresponsiveness issues.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Could you please elaborate on what you meant by "unresponsiveness issues". Is something inherently wrong with iframe embedder? I've went through the forums and major concerns with iframe embedder were scrolling, resizing and erroneously putting http into https.

Hi 5okrates,

The Iframe embedder has some flaws in terms of resizing, scrolling, frame is cut off to name a few. This is more prevalent in mobile devices but I've seen issues using computers as well. I'm sorry that you can't use this content type anymore and afaik the decision of the core team is final.
