So our students always ask us about this.

The same problem: divorce d'avec - divorce davec

I use Google Chrome or Safari but I think that it is common problem.

2). Sometimes the system don't recognise such symbols as "apostrophe" or "-" ans show that it is not correct answer. Why? What is the difference?

How can we solve this problem?

Thank you advance

Hi xenia2020,

Thank you for reporting this. I've reached out to the developer of the content type.

Hi!

There are multiple versions of "apostrophes", and I assume it's Apple's "smart input" feature that is causing the trouble by choosing a different "apostrophe". It's a problem that other content types may be facing, too. Will be fixed.

The other issue is probably caused by deactivating the relevance of punctuation symbols?

Best,

I stand corrected. It can't be Apple's "smart input" feature, because Dictation already takes care of that one. So I need more information.

You student seems to have entered a "right single quotation mark" where an apostrophe is expected. Technically, those are different symbols, so Dictation behaves correctly. I just wonder how the "right single quotation mark" found its way into the input field: Does the student use a particular browser? Some virtual keyboard maybe? Anything else that might help me to understand the cause before I can take action?

As for the other problem: My best guess is that you have checked the "Ignore punctuation symbols" option. It's checked by default. I see how this may be an issue and I am open for suggestions.

Best,
Oliver
