Branching with interactive video

Hi, great work guys!!

I have started using H5P on Moodle and have noticed a couple of possible glitches with the Branching feature:

1: With normal video the branching question pops up automatically when video ends (tried with Youtube), but with interactive it doesn't -- the user has to click to proceed.

2. Using Crome browser, I've noticed that on interactive videos (in branching layout) I can't seem to select the interaction sometimes on the timeline.

Just to let know know.

Thanks.

Hi skyeman,

Thank you for the kind words.

1. Branching scenario indeed handles Video and Interactive Video differently. If I remember correctly this is due to the fact that in Interactive Video users would need to submit the scores for the interaction to be recorded. If the branching choices automatically shows there is a good chance that the user may choose one of the options without submitting the scores.

2. I am unable to reproduce this issue. Does this happen only on specific contents or it may happen to one content when you are using it but may not happen when you try it again? If it is specific to one content would you mind sharing a sample H5P?

I see your point about the scores. However, the abilty to have one continuous sequence would be very interesting since users could then create a kind of storyline starting off from specific points in one video and continuing on a different one from a specific starting point. This way you could have several Youtube fragments played in a row.

With regard to the interaction glitch, I can't seem to be able to replicate it.

Cheers

Hi skyeman,

Good point on the continuous sequence. Would you mind sharing this in the feature request forum. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below tips:

  1. It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”

  2. If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps

  3. Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type

Make sure you post the feature in the Feature Request forum.
