Accents unavailable for crosswords on Mac

I noticed that while it is possible to type in accents (such as Ç) in Chromebook and Windows, it is not possible in Mac. It simply doesn't type anything.
Is there a way to make that possible?

Sell your Mac? ;-)

The input behavior of Crossword would need to be changed to support other than regular latin characters (in all cases on all devices)

I don't own a Mac, I tested it because of clients ;)

Can you please expand on your answer Oliver? Is this something I need to do on my end? If so, how should I do it?
To clarify, I'm using H5P plugin on Wordpress and haven't seen a setting for that.

Hi!

You can do something if you are familiar with JavaScript, yes. Then you could contribute to the source code.

There are different ways that different operating systems (or rather their specific keyboard settings) send character information to the browser and Crossword is not suitable for all of them. That's what would require change.
