Hello, I recently completed a course in digital learning and teaching, and we were introduced to H5P. It's a fantastic authoring tool.
I would like to be able to create content, and keep it on my desktop / cloud storage to use in teaching online, as I don't have a LMS of my own, and I don't have Moodle or Wordpress. Is this possible ? I understand that I need a paid subscription to be able to create content, is that correct ?
Thanks

Hi Natasha!
You're not entirely correct.
There's the software H5P, and there's the service H5P.com. The software H5P is completely free and can be used on a platform such as WordPress or moodle on your own server. H5P files can be downloaded and shared, but you need an environment to run - for instance one of those platforms.
You can also use the free application Lumi on your desktop computer (https://lumi.education) to create and display H5P content offline - and Lumi can also handle H5P files for sharing. Another feature that might be handy: You can export H5P files into static HTML files that can be used "anywhere".
H5P.com is essentially a platform built around H5P where you pay for support and hosting, some very nice exclusive content types for live engagement, and you ensure that there's money to develop the free H5P software further.
Best,
Oliver

Hi Oliver, thanks for getting back to me. Does H5P integrate with Google Classroom ? I have found that Wordpress is difficult to use, and Moodle is a paid-up subscription.

Nope, no integration into Google Classroom, but moodle can be used for free.
