Disappearing Question Indicators/Markers

Forums:
Has anyone had the question indicators (the little circles) in the navigation bar disappear all of a sudden? It seems to happen in larger presentations mostly. Is there a limit to the number of questions you can add to a Course Presentation? And once these question indicators disappear is there any way of getting them back again?

Hi mikecogh,
Would you mind checking if you have any errors in the browser console? Also when you say "larger presentation" how large are we talking about, I've seen some presentations that I think are quite large without this issue.

Console Errors
BV - I'm using FF and could only find these errors in console. (see below) Doesn't mean much to me! It seems once I get past about 40 slides/frames, or around 15 questions the question markers just disappear. Could this be a brower issue? Or Moodle perhaps? Am using an older version - 3.1.

Hi mikecogh,The browser
Hi mikecogh,
The browser console message doesn't tell us anything at least not for this issue. The size as well may not be the culprit as I have seen presentations with that goes beyond where your content breaks, however this depends on what is in it Videos for instance would take up more of server space compared to other activities. The Moodle version should not be the case. If you can try a diffferent browser to isolate it, it would be great. If it works in another browser you can then try disabling browser extensions or go incognito mode to try and isolate the problem. If this does not yield any results I would suggest that you share your content through a file sharing page not unless it is smaller than 16M which you can upload here directly.

Different Browser - Same Problem
I switched to Google Chrome but the same thing happens. Maybe there is a limit to how many question slides you can add to a course presentation before these question markers disappear? It seems to happen when you get to around 20 or so slides with questions but I'm not sure.
I guess the next step is to disable browser extensions as you suggested. Extensions are mentioned in this info from the error console:
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension://fheoggkfdfchfphceeifdbepaooicaho/sourceMap/chrome/iframe_handler.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension://fheoggkfdfchfphceeifdbepaooicaho/sourceMap/chrome/content.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME.
Thoughts?

Hi mikecogh,You can try but
Hi mikecogh,
You can try but if multiple browsers exhibit the same symptoms the issue may be coming from somewhere else. It could be the number of activities in the slides, it could be the server, it could be the browser or something else. If it's possible to have the URL of the content that is having the issue it might help in determining what is causing this. I am unable to reproduce this with a freshly made content.

How to Download?
OK. But how do I get it out of our Moodle site to upload somewhere else? I've looked but can't see how to do that.

Viewing File
BV - I really do appreciate your help with this. I figured out how to download the file but I'd rather not upload it to a public H5P space so I'm sending it to you here.
- Michael
Edit from BV: Downloaded the file and deleted the attachment, I will get back to you once I find something conclusive.

Hi Michael,
I've finally reproduced this issue using your content as a clue. Admittedly I was stopping at 50 slides which was the reason I wasn't able to reproduce it. I've consistently been able to get the issue at 60 slides and I've filed a report here.
PS. Your content has been deleted on my test site as well as the local copy I downloaded.

60 Slide Limit
Well well - so 60 is the magic number. So - I duplicated one of these longer presentations, deleted slides to bring the total back to 60, and guess what? The question indicator circle in the nav bar magically reappears! So I'll divide the larger presentations into two parts and from now on won't go over the 60 slide limit.
Thanks again BV. Much appreciated ;)
