Content Author Role Creation

What triggers the assignment of content authorship to an organizations accounts?  We use LTI with Blackboard and had a few people show up in our author list that we did not intend.

The Tool Consumer(Blackboard) sends the role for each user. Typically the LTI roles called Instructor, ContentDeveloper, TeachingAssistant automatically map to Authors. The LMS usually also provides a mapping between their custom roles and the standard LTI roles. For Blackboard this mapping can be found under Ultra LTI tools > Data settings, and from there, there are different Role mapping sections for course and institution.
