Disallow Video Playback Until Prompt Is Replied To

When ever I place an interaction within an interactive video, I notice that the user can still press the play button to advance the video. They can also move the play bar ahead to any point in the video. Is there a way to disable/hide the player controls when an interaction is shown. This seems like a bug, because although the user can still continue to play the video the interaction does not disappear and blocks the view of the user. In order to make sure the user repsonds to all the prompts this needs to be address.

Thank you for sharing. This is a feature others wants as well, and there is a community member who considers funding this. Let's hope they will! Will be a big improvement and I'm sure it will be added sooner or later, hopefully sooner.

This would be amazing!

I'm looking forward to this :)

Hello H5P people,

Is there any news on this issue? I ran into this as well. Users can skip the questions by pressing the play button. I really need to disable this for my case. Can you tell me if this will be a feature soon?

Hi Marcel!

This feature has been available for quite a long time. When you scroll to the bottom options of an interaction, you will find an accordion that's labeled "Adaptivity". Within, there is a checkbox labeled "Require full score for task before proceeding" that will do the job. Ideally, you should also activate "prevent skipping forward" in the general behavioral settings of the video.

Best,
Oliver

Hi Marcel,

This is can be achieved by enabling some settings in Interactive Video.

  • The first is within IV itself which is "Prevent skipping forward in video". - This disables the user from navigating through the video
  • The second is within the settings of the activity that you are adding in IV. The setting is "Require full score for task before proceeding". This forces the user to answer the question correctly before they can move forward. You can opt out of this option if you don't need your users to get the correct answer but they will still be forced to answer the question before moving forward.

I hope this helps. If you have further question feel free to post in the forums.
